PEP-4: Atlas Expedition

Mission Summary

In the days before GPS and modern navigation technology, sailors and explorers had only the stars in the night sky to guide them home. During these crucial pioneering days, star charts and sky maps were created and eventually distributed.

Today’s technology allows us to view these stars, constellations, nebulae, and countless stellar objects more up close and personal.

For the Atlas Expedition (PEP-4), STARFLEET mission specialists each pick a single object to observe and study for thirty days, such as the Moon, Sun, a planet, a star in any constellation, a nebula, and more.
