Summary:
From the days when the first humans looked up to the stars with wonder, to the advent of smart telescopes, there have been revolutionary instruments that have produced major breakthroughs in our understanding of space.

The Hubble Space Telescope has changed our understanding of the universe. It began its mission in 1990 and discovered not only the atmospheric composition of planets around other stars, but it also discovered dark energy – all through its amazing images. In today’s world, the average person can now produce images of the night sky.

The Hubble Expedition will send STARFLEET astrocartographers on a one-month mission capturing images of the night sky using a variety of astrophotography techniques.

The PEP-2 mission patch pays tribute to the late astronaut Jim Lovell and his participation in NASA’s Gemini Project—the Hubble Expedition insignia is a homage to the Gemini patch.
